What is changing?
The University of Nebraska - Lincoln is retiring the alumni email for life benefit. With this change, you will no longer be able to log in to your alumni email mailbox, send emails from your Huskers.unl.edu alumni inbox, or receive emails to your Huskers.unl.edu alumni mailbox. If you are currently using your Huskers alumni email, your access will be removed on July 1, 2024 and the data in the mailbox will be deleted.
Why is it Changing?
Decreased usage combined with a need for increased cyber security and long-term cost efficiencies resulted in the decision to discontinue lifetime alumni email service at UNL. The change also follows the trend of other national universities discontinuing alumni email, including the University of Illinois, UC Davis, and University of Florida.
Other alumni benefits are not changing at this time. UNL remains committed to delivering a positive alumni experience and individuals will continue to receive other alumni benefits. (See all HuskersAlum Benefits)
What should I do?
Make sure any accounts that reference your UNL account have been moved to personal addresses. Once the mailbox is shut down, any password recovery messages or mail sent to the account will not be processed and will be lost.
Back up your mailbox contents to a personal location.
Ensure any contacts that use your UNL account know that your email address is changing.
